TATTOO FAQS

Tattoo pricing varies based on size, detail, complexity, placement, and whether the design is colour or black-and-grey:
 

• Shop Minimum: Our minimum charge is $150.
   

• Flash Designs: Niko offers a selection of pre-designed "flash" art at set prices. You can view our latest sheets in-store.
   

• Custom Quotes: Because every design is unique, initial quotes are estimates. Your final price may be confirmed on the day of the appointment.
   

• Day Rates: Available for large-scale projects consisting of three or more sessions.
   

• Niko’s Rates: Charged by size and placement. And for longer work Hourly $200

We do not supply numbing creams. If you choose to use one, please note:

• Approval Required: You must provide your own and discuss it with your artist first.
   

• Application: Typically applied 30–60 minutes before your session. Do not leave it on longer, as this can cause chemical burns.
   

• Risks: Numbing creams can alter skin texture, which may impact linework and healing. Improper use can lead to adverse reactions or scarring. We generally advise against them for large areas due to potential health risks; if you have heart conditions or health concerns, consult your GP first.

We recommend tattooist made 'Liquid Gold' soap and Bepanthen antiseptic cream. They are available for purchase in-store.

To ensure the best result and a smoother healing process, please follow these guidelines:
 

• Avoid Substances: Do not consume alcohol or drugs for 24–48 hours before your appointment. Alcohol thins your blood, which can complicate the tattooing and healing process.
   

• Fuel Up: Eat a solid breakfast. Avoid caffeine and energy drinks, as these can lower your pain tolerance.
   

• Stay Hydrated & Prepped: Drink plenty of water leading up to your session. Regularly exfoliate and moisturize the skin in the area to be tattooed; healthy, well-prepped skin takes ink better and causes less trauma.
   

• Hygiene & Comfort: Please shower the morning of your appointment. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo site, and avoid light colors, as tattoo ink can stain.
   

• Energy: Bring snacks and water. We also provide light refreshments to help keep your blood sugar stable.

Age Requirements: 18+ with valid ID. We tattoo clients from age 16 with a parent or legal guardian present; both must provide ID, and we may request additional proof of guardianship.
 

Payment: We do not offer payment plans. Payment is due in full at the end of your session via cash or bank transfer. We accept EFTPOS for merchandise and gift vouchers only (2.5% surcharge applies).

Guests: Our studio is intimate; please come alone to your appointment.
 

Health & Safety: We cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant, nursing, or have a medical condition/illness that impacts the tattooing process. Please consult your doctor if you have any health concerns. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is under the influence or behaving disrespectfully.
 

Extremely Visible Areas (Hands/Neck/Face): We do not tattoo faces. We only consider hands or front-of-neck tattoos on a case-by-case basis for experienced collectors. We strongly encourage you to carefully consider the social and career implications of these placements before committing.
